The main pedestrian-friendly shopping district is known as “The Village at Sherman Oaks” and is located along Ventura Boulevard between Van Nuys Boulevard and Cedros Avenue. But your options don’t stop here; recently, several pockets have emerged along the Boulevard as favorite dining and shopping spots among the locals.

We love living in our Sherman Oaks neighborhood, which we’ve lived in since 1990, because it’s so close and accessible to everything! We are walking distance to great restaurants, 2 neighborhood parks and a great mall plus we are centrally located to different parts of the city. We have easy access to most fwys and canyons. It’s the perfect place to live!

Sherman Oaks History

Roots can be traced to 1927 when General Moses Hazeltine Sherman subdivided and developed his land. The area initially grew as film studios expanded into the San Fernando Valley in the 1920s and 1930s but development exploded during the San Fernando Valley’s post World War II housing boom.

Many believe the area’s most famous landmark is the Sherman Oaks Galleria. Located at Sepulveda and Ventura, a former version of the mall was once symbiotic with 80’s teenage mall culture. The mall is where Fast Times at Ridgemont High was filmed, and is believed to have provided some of the inspiration behind Frank Zappa’s song Valley Girl.

Locals have discovered that this upscale community - with its’ rich history - has much to offer residents and visitors.
